  1. Kia Ora Leyton,
It’s great to read another one of your blogs! I agree with you. It is an astounding piece of work. It would have taken the painter a very long time to get it just right. Wow I haven’t even thought about how it shows women’s independence and freedom. That’s the really amazing thing about art. That everyone can interpret it differently and find different meanings from it. I remember when I went to the Auckland Art Gallery, we all had very different ideas about the different pieces there. Have you ever been to the Auckland Art Gallery when you have been down in Auckland? It’s right in the city and it’s free entry!
    Keep the great blogs coming!

  2. Hey Leyton,

Wow, I love your enthusiasm. I can see you really liked the painting and managed to pull some complex ideas from it. I like that you interpreted the woman as an independent individual, to me she does look quite carefree and confident. What is your favourite aspect of the painting?

I like it to a certain degree because it looks both 2D and 3D in some parts of the painting, but I do have to say that her expression scares me a bit. It reminds me of the saying “If looks could kill”.. What do you think? Have you heard that saying before? Let me know more of your thoughts in the comment section below!

    Toe feiloa’i fo’i,
