"I'll only take up a little bit of room, and I'll stay out of trouble, I promise," Māui would argue.
The eldest brother would reply, "You're so skinny we might mistake you for some bait and throw you overboard for the fish to eat." (quote from the story Maui and the giant fish)

So basically Maui wasn't all ways glamour and muscle like the movie Moana displayed him as, he was actually a little skinny fella. But even though he was small he still managed to reel in a giant fish that became the North Island. He was also a relentless chap that wouldn't take no for an answer. Also he had greedy pricks as brothers that were selfish.

Other stories about Maui that I know is the one were he reels in the sun, When he steals the heart of Tafiti and the giant fish also I probably know a lot more but I've forgotten them over the years.

  1. Kia Ora Leyton,
It’s awesome to see that you have included photos, quotes and a comparison to strengthen your argument. Ka pai!! I think it’s great that you have thought about aspects of the characters rather than mentioning three events that happened in the myth. I’m sure I have forgotten some of Maui myths over the years too. I remember we often studied them at school and then wrote our own myths. One myth I do remember is when he discovered fire. Does that ring a bell with you?
Just in future, words like prick aren’t really appropriate to use. Your blog is linked to a Twitterfeed so younger members of the Summer Learning Journey can see this. The younger students look up to you and other bloggers who are older, as role models.
    Keep up the great work!
